Dullstroom Bird Of Prey & Rehabilitation Centre was established in 1997, in the tiny fishing town of Dullstroom.
The Centre started with the aim of educating the public in order to promote an awareness of the raptor species and their plight as a growing endangered species. The growing plight of our indigenous wildlife led to the establishment of a rehabilitation centre in 2000 on the premises. We have resident birds on display in enclosures with a self- guided tour.
When we fly birds in our daily demonstrations, it is done for fitness and rehabilitation purposes. This is necessary work to get birds ready for release back into the wild. Some birds cannot be released but still need to be flown to keep in shape and optimal health. The flight displays are therefore not viewed as "entertainment" but rather as necessary for the welfare of the birds. At the same time it is a great opportunity to educate the public as to the plight of raptors.
Centre is open Wed-Mon 09h00-16h00. Flying demonstrations (conditions permitting) at 10h30 and 14h30.
