Kids activities and Sports Helmets

Can sporty kids have too many helmets? Are all helmets equal? As concerned parents, we ensure our kids are protected as much as possible especially against head injury. Evidence continues to grow to support the use of helmets in a number of sports to prevent sports related head injury. Parents and kids alike often ask can’t I just use the same helmet for all my different types of sport?

In short the answer is no. It would be great and save us, a fortune if one helmet protected our kid’s heads for every fall or knock they have. It is true all helmets are designed to protect the users head. However, helmets used for different kids activities and sports have different designs. Developed especially for that sports area where injuries can occur. For example:

Cricket Helmets: Protect the head and the face. Worn by a batsman, a wicket keeper and some fielders close to the batsman.

Snow Skiing Helmets: Focus on the head & ears I would hate to be skiing down the slopes with a cricket helmet on – it just would not work.

Equestrian Helmets & Rock climbing helmets are very different designs.

Sure, having some protective covering on your head is better than nothing. However, realise not all helmets are designed to protect for every sport.  Where possible try to use the correct helmet designed for your kids activity.

Kids stay safe and remember to Have Fun Kids!
