We train children from the age of 5 years and up in the,
Funakoshi Style of Shotokan Karate, the most popular karate style.

Our club based in Johannesburg's Northern Suburb of Sunninghill has existed since 2006.
Our Chief instructor Kyle Funakoshi is a 9th Dan Black belt.
Our international head office is based in Milpitas, California, USA, Headed by Kenneth Funakoshi, direct family to Karate Legend, Master Gichin Funakoshi the founder of modern Karate.

We have 2 dojo's in the Sunninghill area.

We are based out of the DREAM BODY FITNESS GYM at the Core shopping center in Sunninghill, with classes every Saturday morning. 08H30-09H30
Dream Body Fitness members only - membership number required.

We also have week day classes at St Stephens church Hall, Sunninghill, with classes every Monday and Wednesday. 17h30 - 18h30
One Dojo in Erasmia, Pretoria on Saturdays 10h15 - 11h45
One Dojo in Bryanston Wednesdays 18h30 - 19h30 and Saturdays 11h00 - 12h00

Our Sensei's are all National champions and have a 2nd Dan or Higher grading.

We are affiliated to:
IFSK - International Funakoshi Shotokan Karate.
IFFSKSA - International Federation of Funakoshi Shotokan Karate South Africa.
JFK - Johannesburg Karate Federation
KSA - Karate South Africa.
SASCOC - South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee.
WKF - World Karate Federation.

I am an executive member of the JFK and through Karate South Africa are the only Karate system that can award national Protea colors for semi contact in karate.

We are a official Adidas Equipment Vendor.
We stock all Martial arts gear from Karate, Judo, Bushido to MMA and Boxing gear, including gym and training equipment.

    Sunninghill Shotokon
    As a proud parent of 2children where my daughter has started and my son hesitated. With my son walking in and out during dropin and pickup, he too joined later with the interest he got in observation. Never say NO to go to classes. It's another home for them where they have good time with Sensei's and the classes they make them are interesting. Yes Sunninghill Shotokon with Sensei Rajen and Sensei Nad have played a major role in our children's lives. The kids gained concentration, attention and physically keeping strong. Thank you is a just a word, yes no words can describe the amount I would like to appreciate and Thank them. Joining is normal but how they take it is in the hands of Karatekas and Sensei's and yes happiness with what we experienced and experiencing.

    Sunninghill Shotokan Karate
    I am proud Sunninghill Shotokan Karate parent and have been for the last 4 years.. I have seen the difference that Karate and especially training with Sunninghill Shotokan Karate has made to my young lady.. Sensei Nad Naicker and Sensei Rajen Moodley really have the best interest of their karatekas at heart and that shines through in everything that they do with and for the kids at the dojo.. While there is a familial feeling to the whole dojo, when it comes to training it is strictly business and the kids get their fair share of tough love.. You can see some of the events and other information about the dojo on their website..
